This is actually my BIGGEST tip. When I get a moodboard there are sooo many things and directions your florist could take from it.

Maybe it was the colors, maybe it was the flowers…or maybe (TRUE STORY) it had nothing to do with any of that. It was simply that there was NO GREENERY

And I never would have figured that out if I hadn't asked the big question: "Why do you like this moodboard?" and then put on my floral detective hat (AKA floral crown) to figure it out.

Photos are helpful, but what really helps is hearing why you're drawn to certain things.

Think about:

• The places that ground you
• The textures or smells that calm you
• The seasons that feel like home
• The way your relationship began

If you tell me, "We got engaged under a canopy of trees," I'll start dreaming in layered greens and dappled light. Your story is the soil. That's where everything grows from. Ask yourself, "why do I love these pictures?"

Maybe you love a certain type of flower because it was your first memory of flowers when you arrived to your grandma's house and walked by her rose garden.

3. Use Words That Reflect Who You Are

It's totally okay if you don't know flower names. Most people don't and your florist doesn't expect you to. What helps is when you describe your personality and the tone you want the day to carry.

Say things like:

• "We want it to feel soft and natural, not traditional."
• "Nothing too stiff, more like nature doing her thing."
• "I want the flowers to feel like art, not decoration."
• "I'm not a rose person. I love movement, layers, and a little bit of wild."
